Deputy Program Manager
Job Description:
Seeking an experienced program/technical manager. Current projects include conduct of assessment analyses using modeling and simulation (M&S), as well as design, implementation, and testing of software products for use in future analyses by high level Navy customers.
Responsibilities include technical direction of and participation in operations research analyses and applications, defense M&S development, customer relations, program management, and new business development. Knowledge of Navy/DoD assessment processes, DoD systems, M&S techniques, as well as scenarios for Major Combat Operations (MCO) and Global War on Terror (GWOT) baseline scenarios are essential, as is an interest in continuing business development.
Additional duties include, but not limited to:
- Reports directly to San Diego-based Program Manager
- Establish current and future program objectives and plans, particularly in new focus areas of operations analysis/research and M&S as applied to military and homeland security problems of national significance
- Perform supervisory functions for subordinate staff members, to include leading and assisting with technical development of products
- Regularly interact with customer base, up to the SES/Flag level
- Target customers, plan, formulate, and write proposals for new work
- Define the objective or purpose of the work, estimate costs and specify the capabilities of the product or services to be delivered
Desired Qualifications:
- MS or PhD in technical field (e.g., mathematics, engineering, physical sciences, or operations research)
- A minimum of 10 years of defense programs experience in the areas of analysis and M&S, to include technical and program management experience with industry or government. Prior active military service or comparable experience providing direct support to the military is a plus.
