Dr. Stone played a key role in helping the French Bureau of Enquiry and Analysis for Civil Aviation Safety (BEA) locate the Air France 447 wreckage, 3 years after the crash.
Dr. Stone joined Metron in 1986, serving as CEO from 2004-2009. Dr. Stone has a Ph.D. in Mathematics from Purdue University. In 1999, Dr. Stone was elected to the National Academy of Engineering. He is also a fellow of the Institute for Operations Research and Management Science. His publications include Bayesian Multiple Target Tracking which he co-authored with Dr. Kristine L. Bell, Dr. Thomas L. Corwin, and Dr. Roy L. Streit; Search Theory and Applications which he edited with K. Brian Haley; and Theory of Optimal Search which won the 1975 Lanchester Prize awarded by the Operations Research Society of America for the best work in operations research. In 2008, Dr. Stone was awarded the J. Steinhardt Prize for outstanding contributions to Military Operations Research by the Military Applications Society.
